| Remove all rubber and metal mesh parts. The easiest way to remove the mesh is with a soldering gun. Heat up the adhesion points. Very easy. Time consuming part: If you have lots of imperfections (pin hole chips) like I did you will have to sand the bare plastic surface down fairly smooth first. Don't worry about getting it perfect because the primer will fill in the holes later. Second you will have to wash with soap the entire plastic pieces to remove contaminants. Next It is imperative that you use this product: Premium Self-Etching Primer "DAP 1690 Self-Etching Primer" the olive green cap one [ http://www.duplicolor.com/products/primer.html ] The primer will make the paint stick to the plastic and will not chip off. It will fill in the chips/imperfections. If the plastic is really bad and has deep pits than you will have to sand the primer down smooth and apply more primer and sand again. Just make sure you have a smooth surface before painting. If you don't it will look like shit and the paint will show all the chips and not be perfect. Third use a high temp engine paint or duplicolor wheel coating. If your car is not black I would stick to a matte color that is close to the stock gray color to match the rest of the moldings vs. high temp gloss black w/clear. You can add a clear coat for protection if desired. Use the Duplicolor wheel coating clear for high temp and anti-chipping. HWP103 Clear. Good luck and happy sanding.
